How to Sync Safari Bookmarks Across Devices - Safari

Safari syncs bookmarks across devices through iCloud when you enable the synchronize feature in your account settings and sign in with the same Apple ID across all devices.

Enable iCloud Sync on Each Device

Open Safari and navigate to Settings (or Preferences on older versions). Select the iCloud tab and sign in with your Apple ID. Check the box next to "Bookmarks" to activate cross-device synchronization. This enables bookmarks backup automatically whenever you add, edit, or delete a bookmark.

The same process applies whether you're using Safari on Mac, iPad, or iPhone. All changes sync within seconds once connected to the internet.

Verify Bookmark Status Across Devices

After enabling iCloud sync, visit the Bookmarks menu on each device to confirm they appear identically. Your bookmarks backup is stored in Apple's cloud servers, accessible from any registered device using your Apple ID. The synchronize feature works continuously in the background—no manual refresh required. If bookmarks don't appear immediately, check your internet connection and ensure you're logged into the same Apple ID account on all devices.

Keep Bookmarks Current

Update bookmarks on any device and they automatically propagate across your entire ecosystem. Add a new bookmark on your iPhone, and it appears on your Mac within moments. Delete or reorganize folders, and changes reflect everywhere. This continuous synchronization eliminates the need for manual backups or copying bookmarks between machines.

Note: Safari 5.1.7 for Windows includes bookmark functionality, though iCloud sync integrates most with Apple devices. For Windows users, exporting bookmarks as HTML files provides an alternative backup method if iCloud access is limited.
