How to Set Up Email in Seamonkey - SeaMonkey
Open SeaMonkey's Mail & Newsgroups component by clicking the envelope icon in the main toolbar or selecting it from the application menu to begin setting up your email account.
Adding Your Email Account
Navigate to File > New > Mail Account to launch the mail configuration wizard. Enter your full name and email address in the initial dialog box. SeaMonkey will attempt to auto-detect your mail server settings based on your email provider's domain. If auto-detection fails, you must manually enter your incoming mail server (IMAP or POP3) and outgoing SMTP server details.
Most providers display these settings in their account support documentation.
Select your preferred protocol: IMAP stores messages on the server and syncs across devices, while POP3 downloads messages locally. IMAP is recommended for users who access email from multiple computers. Enter the incoming and outgoing server addresses exactly as your email provider specifies them, including port numbers (typically 993 for IMAP with encryption, 995 for POP3 with encryption).
Completing the Setup
Provide your username and password when prompted. SeaMonkey supports SSL/TLS encryption—enable this security feature if your provider offers it. The application will test the connection to verify the mail server responds correctly. Once confirmed, your account appears in the Mail & Newsgroups folder list on the left sidebar.
How to set up email in SeaMonkey requires attention to server details and protocol selection. Incorrect entries prevent message retrieval and sending. Double-check all information against your email provider's setup guide before finalizing.
SeaMonkey 2.53.23 provides a straightforward email client integrated with its browser functionality. This all-in-one approach eliminates the need for separate applications, making it practical for users managing both web browsing and email communication simultaneously.
