How to Fix Waterfox Not Opening Websites - Waterfox

Clear your browser cache and restart Waterfox to fix website loading issues.

Website loading problems in Waterfox often stem from cached data, corrupted settings, or connection issues. Follow these troubleshooting steps to restore normal browsing.

Clear Your Cache and Cookies

Open Waterfox and press Ctrl+Shift+Delete to access the Clear Recent History window. Select "Everything" from the time range dropdown. Check both "Cookies" and "Cache" boxes, then click Clear Now. This removes stored data that sometimes prevents websites from loading correctly.

Restart Waterfox completely after clearing.

Reset Network Settings

Connection issues can block website access. Go to Settings > Network and scroll to the bottom. Click "Clear Now" under DNS over HTTPS settings. Return to the main Settings menu and check your proxy configuration—ensure "No proxy" is selected unless you intentionally use one.

Website loading failures frequently stem from misconfigured proxy settings.

Disable Extensions Temporarily

Your installed extensions might interfere with how websites display. Waterfox supports XUL extensions alongside modern add-ons, and conflicts can occur. Press Ctrl+Shift+A to open Add-ons Manager. Disable all extensions one by one, then revisit problematic websites.

If a site opens after disabling an extension, that's your culprit—either remove it or check for updates.

Update Waterfox

Ensure you're running version 6.6.9 or later. Outdated versions may struggle with modern websites. Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) > Help > About Waterfox. Your browser automatically checks for updates.

Install any available versions.

Try Safe Mode

Launch Waterfox in Safe Mode by holding Shift while starting the application. This disables all extensions and uses default settings. Safe Mode helps identify whether your profile settings cause the troubleshooting issues with website loading.

If these steps don't resolve the problem, try creating a new user profile. Contact Waterfox support if website access remains blocked after trying all solutions.
