How to Enable Javascript in Internet Explorer - Internet Exp

Open the Tools menu, select Internet Options, click the Security tab, then click Custom Level to enable JavaScript settings in Internet Explorer.

JavaScript runs scripts on web pages to provide interactive features, animations, and dynamic content. Internet Explorer 11 includes JavaScript support, though the setting may require adjustment depending on your security configuration or previous modifications to browser settings.

Accessing JavaScript Settings

Navigate to Tools menu in the top-right corner of Internet Explorer 11. Click Internet Options from the dropdown list. The Internet Options dialog window opens. Select the Security tab at the top of the window.

Choose the zone you want to modify—typically "Internet" for standard websites. Click the Custom Level button to access detailed security options and JavaScript controls.

Enabling JavaScript in Internet Explorer

Scroll down the Security Settings window until you locate the Scripting section. Find "Active Scripting" within this section. Select the Enable radio button next to Active Scripting. This activates JavaScript on web pages you visit.

Click OK to confirm your changes. Click OK again on the Internet Options dialog to apply the new settings.

The browser may require a restart for changes to take full effect. Clear your browser cache afterward to ensure websites load correctly with the updated JavaScript permissions.

Why Enable JavaScript

Most modern websites depend on JavaScript to function properly. Without active scripting enabled, web pages may display incomplete content, broken buttons, or missing interactive elements. Internet Explorer's JavaScript implementation supports web standards necessary for contemporary web applications.

Practical recommendation: Enable JavaScript for the Internet zone while maintaining stricter security settings for untrusted sites. Monitor your security settings regularly and only adjust security options when necessary for specific website functionality.
