How to Disable Ads in Opera Gx Browser - Opera GX
Opera GX comes with a built-in ad blocker that you can enable in just a few clicks to stop ads across the web. Here's the thing — it's already there, ready to go!
Turn On the Built-In Ad Blocker
Open Opera GX and click the Easy Setup button in the sidebar (or navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security). Scroll down to find the Ad blocker toggle and flip it on. That's it! You've just disabled ads in Opera GX browser. The ad blocker starts working immediately on every website you visit.
Want more control? Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Ad blocker to choose your blocking level: Standard (recommended), Strict, or Off. Standard catches most ads without breaking websites. Strict mode is aggressive — perfect if you want maximum ad removal, though some sites might look weird.
Extra Ad-Blocking Power
The built-in ad blocker handles the heavy lifting, but Opera GX also lets you add extra content blockers. Check out the Extensions menu to install additional ad blocking tools from trusted sources. This creates a double-layer defense against ads, banners, and pop-ups.
You can also whitelist specific websites if ads on certain sites don't bother you. Just click the ad blocker icon in your address bar while visiting a site, then toggle blocking on or off for that domain alone.
The Gaming Advantage
Since Opera GX is built for gamers, disabling ads means faster page loads and less CPU drain during your browsing sessions. Combined with the browser's built-in CPU and RAM limiters, you get a cleaner, speedier experience without ads eating your resources.
Our take: Enable the standard ad blocker setting and you're golden. It blocks ads without the headaches, keeps your gaming sessions smooth, and requires zero extra work.
